Hello friends! My name is Brittany Wang, author of the "no spice" Epic YA Fantasy, On Wings of Ash and Dust, and founder of the No Spice YA Fantasy Directory. While writing & publishing my book, I was surprised to realize how saturated the market is with "spicy books", even for young adult audiences. I personally prefer books without spice and do not plan on writing books with spice, but there were times where I started to wonder if there was even an audience for non-spicy books anymore. Thankfully, though social media also seems to be pushing spicy books as well, I've been able to connect with many other readers and writers like me. I am definitely not alone! Still, there didn't seem to be a central place to find non-spicy book recs or to connect with other like-minded readers and writers. This is why I created this directory. A place where fans of no-spice can always find books they feel comfortable reading as well as recommending to friends, family, and young audiences. While "No Spice" generally means a book does not depict sex in any way, many readers have definitions of what that looks like and different preferences / levels of comfortability when it comes to other romantic interactions and scenes. Because of this, we have created a rating system with 6 levels of romantic interaction that our readers have identified as meaning "no spice" to them. We use the term "No Spice" instead of "Clean Fantasy" here for multiple reasons. 1. "Clean Fantasy" can also refer to books without swearing, violence, gore, etc... This directory does not focus on these aspects, though some book pages may have disclaimers for elements such as these. 2. We also don't use the term "Clean" as the insinuates that spice or "sex" or the books that have them are "dirty". We do not wish to shame anyone who enjoys or writes spicy books, but only to serve those who desperately desire "no spice".

The information on each book page has been submitted by either the author themselves or a reader of the book through our BOOK SUBMISSION FORM. We depend on authors and readers to provide accurate information for each book. If you see information that is inaccurate, missing, or should be updated, please use our CONTACT FORM to report it. Please also be patient as updates may take some time to be made.
